What is a rainscreen attachment system?
Rainscreen attachment systems are made up of fasteners and sub-frame components that connect the exterior components of a building directly to the interior framing.

How does a rainscreen attachment system work?
A rainscreen uses an exterior surface–a rainscreen cladding layer–to break the force of sideways, wind-driven water movement, so that any water that gets through the small breaches in the surface has lost its momentum. Most water simply bounces off the surface or runs down the exterior.
How thick should a rainscreen be?
1/4″ to 1″. Rainscreen gap depth or thickness is the most debatable detail. Vented airspace rainscreens typically see from 1/4″ to 1″ thicknesses. Bigger airspaces will promote more drying but they also increase labor and material costs and complicate trim and siding details.
Is a rainscreen worth it?
Rainscreens are indeed effective, but knowing when to use them is key. They are more effective in regions that receive at least 20 inches of rain per year, and they are useful with any cladding material, wood (especially painted wood) is an excellent candidate.
Rainscreen architecture
What is a Rainscreen? Rainscreens are time-tested wall systems that have been in use for over a century. The rainscreen design is generally the separation of cladding from a structural wall to manage moisture and energy transfer through a wall assembly.

We needed to add a weep baffle product to our line of products. We were sold on the keystone profiled product that we felt set the standard for the industry. Then we were shown a test report that proves that straight strip woven weep baffle performs just as well as keystone profiled weep baffle. Keene makes rainscreen products along with many other drainage solution products. They also make the most innovative sound mat products and accessories so we decided to take on the line. We came up with a few ideas for new products and applications and Keene embraces them and now offers them. Besides, Jim Keene is a great guy and we really like him.
